ACADEMY star Tom Owen-Evans has today agreed to sign his first professional contract with Newport County AFC, the club have announced.

The 18-year-old made 23 appearances for the Exiles under-18s this season, as well as being included in the County first team squad on nine occasions.

Owen-Evans came off the bench during County's final away game of the season against York City to make his Football League debut.

Speaking to the club's official website Owen-Evans said: "I am really pleased to have signed my first professional contract with Newport County.

"I am very much looking forward to starting back again and meeting up with the squad."

The news follows the signing of fellow academy ace Kieran Parselle earlier this week.
