THE Newport County AFC Supporters Trust has written to football clubs throughout the area asking for support in raising the money they need to take control of the Exiles.

The Trust, which also launched a benefits package for shareholders this weekend, has now raised £110,000 towards the £195,000 it needs by the end of this month.

In a letter to the ‘local football community’ the Trust writes: “If the Trust is successful it will become a community based club and as a result we wanted to invite the footballing family within Newport and the surrounding area to be part of that.

“What we are offering is for each local club to join the trust (£10) and purchase one share (£50) in the name of the football club they represent.

“This will then be placed on our share register and a certificate issued if the Trust is successful.

“If you would like your club to be part of the share offer please follow the guide below.

“Step 1 – Trust membership, forms can be downloaded from the website www.ncafctrust.org and are available at the club.

“Step 2 – buying shares. There is a form that can be downloaded on the website or again you can approach the club.

“Step 3 – paying for shares. This can be undertaken in a variety of ways.

The Trust also outlined a benefits package linked to monthly payments over the weekend.

Supporters who set up a monthly direct debit for an amount ranging for £10 to £200 ascending in multiples of £10 for a full 12 months will qualify.

The Trust is asking for suggestions as to what the benefits package might include.

The current ideas include: director for a day, dressing room and stadium tour, pre-season private drinks reception with management team.

The money raised will be used to support a players fund, working capital and sustaining the club throughout the season.

The trust website www.ncafctrust.org has the benefits form available to download.

Alternatively you can collect a form in the club shop or ticket office.

When you have completed the form it can be sent to Benefits@ncafctrust.org, handed in to the club shop or ticket office, or send to Newport County AFC Supporters Trust, C/O Newport County AFC, Rodney Parade, Newport NP19 0UU.
