NEWPORT County's Supporters' Trust have announced plans for a new away stand at Rodney Parade.

The new structure will be in place in time to accommodate the traveling hordes from Portsmouth in County's next home clash.

In a statement, they explained: "The Club has this week finalised plans for the installation of a new stand for visiting supporters at Rodney Parade.

"The upgraded facility, which will replace the timeworn temporary structure behind the goal, will accommodate up to five hundred people and include a wheelchair section.

"Wernick Events, who are carrying out the works, have been integral in ensuring that the stand will be complete and available for our next home match, when we entertain Portsmouth FC on Saturday October 17th, kick-off 3pm.

"Chief Executive, Jason Turner, said 'We are grateful to Steve Shaw of Wernick Events for turning this project around in a short timeframe, to ensure that we can welcome a full contingent of over 1,000 Pompey fans to Rodney Parade on Saturday week, for what promises to be an entertaining fixture.'

"Board and Trust Board member, Gavin Foxall, added 'It is great that the Supporters Trust were able to assist the Club by providing the necessary funds to carry out this much needed work. The money has derived from the Supporters Trust fundraising campaign, and it is testament to our fans for supporting the fundraising scheme to allow this project to come to fruition.'
