TEENAGE defender Liam Angel and striker Tom Meechan will play some part for Newport County AFC at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

The pair were unused substitutes as the Exiles lost 1-0 at home to Notts County last week.

“I wanted to get Liam and Tom on last week but they’ll definitely get minutes on Saturday,” said manager Warren Feeney, who is without John-Christophe Ayina and Yan Klukowski.

“They’re struggling [with knee injuries] but otherwise we look OK,” he added.

“Andrew Hughes and Darren Jones are OK but I thought Kieran Parselle came in last week and did very well against two very good strikers in Alan Smith and Jon Stead. He would have learned a lot from them.”

Feeney played in last week’s Match for Life charity game at Rodney Parade but says he’ll resist the temptation to make a cameo appearance at Wimbledon.

“Definitely not! I think Flynny would want to but definitely not me,” said the Exiles boss.

“You don’t realise how unfit you are! And I was probably a little bit too critical of the players with the pitch because it was tough but it’s a great cause and it was great to get the boots back on.”
