THE Newport County AFC Supporters Trust has announced that it has received nine valid nominations for eight places available for election to the Trust Board.
This means that, unlike stage one of the elections when only one nomination was received, there will be contested election.
The nominations for stage two are: Jon Bowkett, Neil Collier, Chris Collins, Mike Everett, Gavin Foxall, Shaun Johnson, Tony Pring, Simon Sadler and Malcolm Temple.
Ballot papers will be sent to eligible members of the Trust from Monday.
To be eligible to vote in the election supporters must have been fully paid up members of the Trust on April 21.
A list of candidates will be published on the Trust website (www.ncafctrust.org) on Monday.
All candidates have produced a manifesto to make their case as to why they believe Trust members should vote for them and these manifestos will also be published on the Trust website.
The closing date for the receipt of ballot papers is 5pm on Saturday, July 9, and any ballot papers received after that date will be rejected.
For more information about the election visit the Trust website or email info@ncafctrust.org marking the message for the attention of Colin Everett.
The results of the election will be announced at a public meeting after the closing date.
Charlie Hopkins, the only valid nominee in stage one of the elections, will also join the Trust Board.
In a communication to members last month the Trust said: “Following the first round of elections, and consultation with Supporters Direct, we can confirm that the one candidate, Charlie Hopkins, who provided a submission, will become a director at the end of the season following completion of the Football League’s Fit and Proper Person test and acceptance by Companies House as a director.
“Charlie’s submission is available to view on the Trust website and we’re looking forward to Charlie joining the new Trust Board in due course.
“As promised we are now launching stage two of the election process which will cover the eight remaining positions.
“We acknowledge feedback from the first stage of the process and will endeavour to ensure all fans are fully aware of the process and requirements, which we believe are fair and open to all.
“As stated previously all directors will have parity in the decision making process and will be responsible for the strategic direction and financial stability of the club.”
