NEWPORT County AFC manager Warren Feeney says he has no plans to bring Adam Chapman back to the club.

The midfielder, who left Rodney Parade in 2015, was released by Mansfield Town last week.

Chapman was also pictured watching the Exiles lose 2-0 at Doncaster, his home town.

But Feeney has dismissed rumours that he could move for the free agent and suggested that Josh Sheehan, on loan from Swansea City, could be in line for a first appearance against Cambridge United on Saturday.

“No, there’s nothing there whatsoever,” he told the Argus when asked about Chapman.

“I’ve got a good player in Josh Sheehan who can’t get into the team.

“He’s trained absolutely fantastic this week and there is a possibility he’ll be involved on Saturday.

“But at this moment with Adam – no.”

Chapman scored six goals in 84 appearances for County over two seasons before joining the Stags at the end of the 2014-2015 campaign.

The 26-year-old was a regular last season and made seven appearances this season but agreed to terminate his contract last week.
