NEWPORT County AFC winger Jack Compton has joined Merthyr Town on loan until the end of the season.
Merthyr compete in the Southern Football League and are currently sitting second, five points behind league leaders Chippenham Town.
Compton will join the Martyrs as they bid to win automatic promotion to the National League and he will be available for Saturday’s game against Slough Town.
The 28-year-old has made nine appearances for County this season but has not played since the New Year's Eve defeat to Exeter City.
He was one of three players, along with Ben Tozer and Mark Randall, made available for transfer last month.
A club statement said: "Newport County AFC would like to wish Jack the best of luck on his loan spell."
