THERE are some days that stay with you, and May 6, 2017, was one of them. Saturday had just everything.

We were playing at Rodney Parade, a sell-out crowd and no sign of a rugby ball. The Great Escape happened as County stormed from the abyss, not forgetting the Stelling show on Sky!

The start was nervy with action at both ends before County were awarded a penalty. They’ve conceded their fair share.

Player of the month Mickey Demetriou fired it in and County led. As did Doncaster against Hartlepool.

Every good story has a twist, however, and Notts scored before Hartlepool levelled before taking the lead against Doncaster.

With five minutes left, the 7,500 capacity crowd at Rodney Parade was muted. They thought it was all over.

But, if there’s one thing I’ve said about County time and time again, they have fought that extra bit harder. Club legend David Pipe, to Mark O’Brien, he hits it. History!

It was the greatest footballing moment we may ever see at Rodney Parade, bodies flew everywhere, the ground erupted, grown men were crying. Unbelievable!

When the final whistle finally went, the pitch was stormed and Tom Owen-Evans and Sid Nelson were propelled into the air like the FA Cup.

I shook hands with a number of celebrating players and supporters I have encountered on day-trips to Stevenage, Carlisle, and many more.

If you remember me saying Pipe gave me a headache at Crewe for tapping my head a bit too hard, I got him back. Gently though, this is iron-man Pipe!

At one point I even dropped to my knees and kissed the pitch, regrettably as my mouth was covered by grain-like dirt.

The players were treated as heroes, and rightfully so, a team defined by attitude, determination to pull-off a miracle.

The Duke of Edinburgh retired, the King of Newport Sir Michael Flynn is knighted. MissionFlynnpossible has been achieved!

It is at moments like those, every issue you have in life just doesn’t matter; everyone is feeling that special buzz, and will tell that same story to everyone. I’ve already started!
