MICHAEL Flynn has been awarded the LG Performance of the Week Award by the League Managers Association after guiding Newport County AFC to Football League safety last Saturday.
The LMA’s five-man panel, comprising LMA chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, has determined that the award should go to the Exiles for their vital 2-1 victory against Notts County, which completed the club’s Great Escape from relegation.
The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of more than 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.
Flynn will receive a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and a LG Performance of the Week trophy in a presentation to commemorate the result.

He was nominated for the Sky Bet League Two manager of the month award for April but missed out to Portsmouth’s Paul Cook.
County defender Mickey Demetriou was named League Two player of the month for April.
