FORMER Newport County AFC defender Kieran Parselle has secured a move to Gloucester City.

The 20-year-old joins the Tigers in National League South following his release by the Exiles last month.

Gloucester manager and ex-County boss Tim Harris makes Parselle his second signing of the summer.

“I have been a long admire of Kieran since being given a full-time contract at Newport County two years ago,” said Harris.

“He has immense potential and will fit in well with our desire to bring in young, hungry players.

“I have to thank Kevin Nicholls (head of recruitment at Elite Management Agency), Michael Flynn and Tom Owen-Evans, who appeared on loan for us last season.

“Kieran had several other clubs chasing his signature, but more importantly wanted to join our club which means everything to me as the manager.

“He will bring a balance, strength, quality and a good character to Gloucester City AFC. We look forward to having him on board.”

Parselle was a product of the Newport academy and made his senior debut aged 18 in a League Cup tie against Wolves in August 2015, not long after penning his first professional contract.

He was named man of the match that night and four days later appeared for the first time in the Football League when County drew 2-2 with Stevenage.

With chances of first-team football at Rodney Parade few and far between, Parselle went out on loan to Salisbury last season, scoring once in 26 games.
