NEWPORT County AFC have confirmed that they and Leeds United will split the gate receipts from next Tuesday’s Carabao Cup second round tie at Elland Road.

The Exiles were pulled out of the hat as the home side when the draw was made last Thursday, but they are unable to host the contest due to work on the new Rodney Parade pitch.

Leeds and the English Football League (EFL) supported County’s request to switch the game to the Yorkshire venue, with the teams set to do battle in less than a week’s time.

EFL Cup rules state that, after costs, clubs are entitled to 45 per cent of the revenue generated by ticket sales from each competition fixture they play.

But when a club is successful in switching a tie, like the Exiles have done on this occasion, a level of compensation is to be paid to their opponents.

However, Leeds have agreed for County to keep their full 45 per cent share of the gate receipts, much to the delight of chairman of operations Gavin Foxall.

“On behalf of everyone at Newport County AFC, I would like to thank the chair of Leeds United, Andrea Radrizzani, for graciously showing his and Leeds United’s goodwill in allowing us to keep our percentage of the gate. It is a wonderful gesture and much appreciated.”

Tickets for the encounter will go on sale, both online and at the Rodney Parade ticket office, at 10am this Thursday.

The ticket office will be open as usual on Thursday and Friday (10am-7pm), but is also opening from 10am-7pm next Monday to accommodate an expected increased demand for tickets.

Prices are as follows: Advance purchase (season ticket holders) – adults £10, concessions £5, child £1; advance purchase (non-season ticket holders) – adult £15, concessions £10, child £1; on the day (season ticket holders) – adult £15, concessions £10, child £1; on the day (non-season ticket holders) – adult £20, concessions £15, child £1.

Concession prices are for fans aged 60 and over, supporters between the ages of 16 and 22, or those who are disabled (carers are also entitled to a free ticket).

Tickets for Leeds come off sale online at 3pm on Friday but are also available to purchase on the day at Elland Road.

In addition, supporters will be able to buy tickets for this Saturday’s trip to Coventry City and next weekend’s first home match of the season against Chesterfield.

Information regarding the team’s trip to Exeter City on Saturday, September 2 will be announced later this week and tickets go on sale from Thursday, August 24.
