NEW loan signing Cameron Pring is convinced that joining Newport County AFC is the “perfect move” at this stage of his career,.

The 20-year-old left-back or left wing-back became the third player to join County on loan from Bristol City as he followed in the footsteps of striker Antoine Semenyo and midfielder Tyreeq Bakinson last week.

And he’s delighted to get the opportunity to test himself in League Two.

“I’m very excited to be here,” he told iFollow Exiles. “It’s a great club, all the feedback I’ve heard tells me the fans are great, all the boys are great and I’m really looking forward to getting started.

“And I know Mike Flynn likes to play with wing-backs so it’s perfect for me.

“I originally started as a left winger, so I do like to get forward. I moved to left-back a couple of years ago when I first signed for Bristol City so I’m quite happy to get back and forward.

“I think I have a good work-rate, I can bring pace and power, I try to get crosses in – some goals as well hopefully – and that’s what I’m about really.

“The style of play here at Newport County AFC is everything that works for me. It’s a perfect move.

“[Bristol City boss] Lee Johnson just told me to come here and give my best. That’s all I can do – I feel like I can compete here, this is the perfect league for me at this moment in time.

“In the six months that I’m here, if I enjoy it and I’m playing well, then I don’t see why I couldn’t stay for the season. I’ve just got to play for places and hopefully do my best.”

And Pring is happy to have Semenyo and Bakinson around to help him settle in.

“I spoke to Tyreeq and Antoine before joining and they both said it would be a great experience for me,” he added.

"I think 100 per cent it helps to have them here. I won’t be like the new kid and I’m sure they’ll help me get to know the players."
