NEWPORT County AFC will launch a new Supporters Trust membership scheme in an effort to raise more money for the running of the club.

The new membership programme will come into effect on November 1.

At the moment the 1,457 current members contribute £13,500 a year with most paying just £10 a year.

Other contributions added to that provide another £18,500 to make up an overall income of around £32,000.

It is estimated that if all current members renew and sign up for a bronze package in the new scheme, paying £5 a month, it would provide an annual income of around £100,000.

There are also silver, gold and platinum packages, which would bring in more revenue.

Clwb Spytty, which will replace the junior Trust membership, will also launch on October 1, while the County Lottery will be relaunched on November 1.

The new membership schemes were announced at a Supporters’ Trust open meeting at The Neon in Newport tonight.

The club also gave an update on the results of the fans’ survey on the future ownership model.

Fans were asked to indicate whether they would prefer to keep the current model of Trust ownership, to sell the club or to move to a hybrid model with the Trust retaining a say but outside investment welcomed.

Around 75 per cent of respondents backed the hybrid model.

Trust members will have the final say on any change but they will not vote on their preferred option until next summer.

It was revealed that commercial manager Rebecca Hemming, who joined the Exiles in January this year, has now left the club.

Her duties are currently being shared between chief operating officer Guy Price and the directors and this is set to continue “for the foreseeable future.”
