NEWPORT Gwent Dragons centre Jack Dixon has been named in Wales’ training squad for the World Cup.

The 20-year-old from Newbridge is joined in the 47-man squad by regional teammates Taulupe Faletau, Hallam Amos and Tyler Morgan.

Warren Gatland has called up three uncapped forwards from England’s Aviva Premiership – Exeter tighthead Tomas Francis, Bath’s Dom Day, Gloucester’s Ross Moriarty – along with Ospreys lock Rory Thornton, who will link up with the seniors after fulfilling his commitments as Wales Under-20s captain at the Junior World Championship.

Cardiff Blues-bound wing Tom James earns a recall while Cory Allen is back from a shoulder injury to battle with Dixon and Morgan for a spot in the squad that has been opened up by Jonathan Davies being ruled out of the tournament.
