DESPITE breezing past a hapless Italy on Saturday, Wales prop Rob Evans still had the disappointment of Twickenham on his mind after the final whistle at the Principality Stadium.

However, the Scarlets star, who started all of Wales’ games in this year’s RBS 6 Nations, says it is time to move on from that desperately poor first hour against England.

That below-par display ultimately cost Wales the match and their chance of the title going into the final weekend of fixtures.

But with important duties at regional level to come and a three-Test tour of New Zealand this summer, Evans is focused on putting that horror show at Twickenham firmly behind him.

“You’ve got to keep a level head right through really,” he said following his side’s 67-14 rout of the Italians.

“Obviously we were bitterly disappointed with last week but we’ve got to move on now and hopefully look forward to the summer.

“I’ve got a big rest of the season with the Scarlets now so I’ll go back there and see what we can do.

“Hopefully I’ll get picked for the summer tour.”

Evans has worked well in tandem with the likes of Samson Lee and Scott Baldwin in the front row.

And while he admits there were a few “cobwebs” to blow away on Saturday after the 25-21 defeat seven days earlier, Evans is pleased with how the forwards have been functioning.

“We’ve been happy with the set-piece and it has gone pretty well to be fair,” he added.

“We have worked hard on it as well so we’re happy with that aspect of the game.”

Evans, who won his eighth cap on Saturday, had a relatively easy ride against Italy before being replaced by Gethin Jenkins on 50 minutes.

Evans will now switch his focus to a crunch West Wales derby in the Guinness Pro12 this Saturday as Scarlets face rivals Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium.
