Gwent councils to get £25 million less next year
There should be No rise in council tax , Why is it only welsh councils have to put council tax up when English councils operate on 50% LESS Revenue than the welsh . I pay 2000 a year to monmouthshire and have 1 bin bag a fortnight to show for it . They make money out of the recycling .For your £2000 you get 26 bags per year collected? Really? Where do I start? Your council tax goes towards schools, libraries, community safety, consumer protection, trading standards, environmental health, food safety inspections, public transport. Shall I go on? No need, you have probably got a closed mind and will say that you dont use these services anyway. You and your "one bag a fortnight" is almost as funny as the "What have the Romans ever done for us?" sketch. Top man, keep making us smile.

Maybe if that Assembly nonsense was not there the councils would not have a cut of such large proportions.
It's a wonder how Wales managed for so long before the Bay of Pigs gang came into being.
Putting the Assembly in between Westminster and the local authorities has simply added another tier of money WASTERS to the political mix in Wales.
On average, Gwent county boroughs and the City of Newport could be 5 millions each better off without the Assembly .
The rest of Wales likewise.
What it spends should be ALL going to the councils all over Wales.

Newport have had a Labour council almost uninterrupted for the past 40 plus years. How much has this affected the run down state of the town/city centre!!Labour want to keep things dire as nice areas dont vote Labour.Plenty of evidence of this in many parts of Wales.

This is absolute drivel.
Caerleon consistently gets very good results and has been put in band 4.
It is not about results though, it is about socialist engineering, to make the chav schools feel better.
I am certain that if you were to compare like with like on academic terms, Caerleon would probably come in band1.
The truth hurts, as academic prowess above all else is likely to get someone a good career.
This is kidology at its best from the powers to be in that pathetic excuse for a government in Cardiff.

It is with interest that I learnt the other day that the charity shop opposite where I work is being moved when the market is 'regenerated'. I wonder why charity shops "move" when every other shop just closes???? Perhaps the council should look into affordable rents for traders. Then perhaps we'd get some proper shops back.
