AN AFTERNOON of comedy about literature, with an art exhibition thrown in, makes up the Barry Arts Festival’s next event.

Terry Victor will perform his one-man show, Well Thumbed, in Victoria Park, in Cadoxton, Barry, on Sunday, June 23, taking the audience on a tour of the naughtier pages of literature classics.

The show has previously been performed at the Edinburgh Festival and Cardiff’s Chapter Arts Centre, among others.

Barry Arts Festival organizer, Dot Connell said: “The idea behind the show is simple. The most read parts of books were the most interesting, so the book would fall open at pages with naughty sections.

“Terry Victor’s show is about some of our most famous writers, and some of their naughtiest writings.

“If you enjoy a bawdy comedy then you’ll enjoy this afternoon out.

“We are also pleased that we are pairing these performances with an exhibition by Barry-based artist Carl Chapple, whose work will be available to view for free in Victoria Park for a number of days before the show.”

There are two performances of Well Thumbed at 4pm and at 6pm on Sunday, June 23.

Due to the size of the venue, tickets are limited and should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment.

Tickets cost £10, including a cream tea, and are available from Dot Connell on 07982 319456, via dot.connell@virgin.net or online at ticketsource.co.uk/barryartsfestival

The art exhibition by Carl Chapple will be available to view from Thursday, June 20.

Barry Arts Festival thanks sponsors, Barry Town Council and Newydd Housing Association, and also the Vale of Glamorgan Council for use of the facility.
