A £105m 'world class' resort will bring 1,500 jobs to Wales after groundbreaking plans were announced by Bluestone National Park Resort.

A deal with leading property developer Land and Lakes will see a £105m luxury resort with 500 lodges created on the beautiful coast of Holy Island in harmony with its spectacular sweeping beaches and rolling countryside.

Bluestone, which runs an eco family resort within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, believes its plans for another globally-recognised destination will have a remarkable rejuvenating effect on the region - and be an iconic development for the Wales’ tourism industry.

The ambitious regeneration of the historic Penrhos Estate is set to attract thousands of visitors to north Wales in a huge economic boost for the wider Holy Island area, while leading to more than 1,500 new jobs (600 during construction and 900 operational staff).

The coastal resort will include up to 500 luxury lodges, an indoor subtropical water park, premium restaurants overlooking the coast, a wellness spa retreat and a water sports centre, all carefully planned in harmony with the stunning setting. The natural environment featuring nature trails, woodland walks, coastal path and inland sea will provide the unique setting for family free range, outdoor activities and short breaks.

It will be known as Bluestone Holy Island Resort Ynys Môn and will complement the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - with its meadows, woodland and glorious beaches reflecting Bluestone’s ‘free range’ ethos.

CEO William McNamara said: “I’m delighted that Bluestone will create a premier destination on the Land and Lakes site that will bring millions of pounds of investment and hundreds of jobs to the area, while celebrating Ynys Môn’s incredible beauty.

"We believe this project will do this, while giving hundreds of young people a start in their working lives and for older people, looking for a new challenge or a change of career. We want to bring success and prosperity to this special part of North Wales - we believe it will be a game changer."
