JK Rowling has announced the fifth novel in the Cormoran Strike crime series, which she writes under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, will be called Troubled Blood.

The book will be published on September 29, she confirmed on Twitter.

The books, set in London, follow a war veteran turned private detective who solves brutal murders with the help of his trusted assistant Robin Ellacott.

The first Cormoran Strike novel, The Cuckoo’s Calling, was published in 2013 and was followed by The Silkworm  in 2014, Career Of Evil  in 2015 and Lethal White in 2018.

Rowling confirmed the fifth instalment was finished on January 25, when she shared a photograph of the printed manuscript.

The books have been adapted for television, starring Tom Burke as Strike and Holliday Grainger as Robin.

Harry Potter author Rowling has said she uses the pseudonym to maintain the distinction from her other writing.
