THE Operation Santa appeal deadline is fast approaching, but there is still time for residents to pledge a gift for children living in Caerphilly county borough.

More than 780 names of children, who are not helped by any other appeal, have been provided by Social Services to receive gifts from Operation Santa.

The closing date to pledge a gift is tomorrow (THURS NOV 30) and gifts will be accepted at one of the drop off points until Monday, December 4.

Cabinet member, Cllr Carl Cuss said, “Each year we have so many wonderful gifts pledged for the children it is truly heart-warming to know that we have so many generous and giving residents living in the county.

"This year is no exception, the gifts are already flooding in and that is fantastic to see as we have our biggest list to date with more than 780 names on it.”

He added: “I would like to extend my thanks to residents and businesses who have already pledged a gift and urge those who wish to do so to call the pledge line before the closing date on Thursday.”

In addition to the residents who have been pledging gifts the council has a number of companies collecting hundreds of pledges from their staff, including Dust and Things, Credit Safe, General Dynamics, Ecolab and DS Smith.
