NEWPORT County's historic FA Cup Third Round win over Premier League Leicester was described as "Roy of the Rovers stuff" by manager Michael Flynn, and that is the case now after the FA launched a commemorative comic book featuring the win.

To celebrate the four giant-killings in the Third Round, the FA has created a bespoke Roy of the Rovers comic with a dedicated page to each team's exploits.

County are featured alongside fellow giant-killers Gillingham, Barnet and Oldham.

Exiles' manager Michael Flynn and striker Padraig Amond, who netted the winner against Leicester, were on hand at the club shop in the Kingsway Centre to launch the comic, along with chairman Gavin Foxall.

The Irish striker said that seeing his goal recreated in the comic was surreal.

"When you’re a young boy growing up, you see Roy of the Rovers magazines and in the newspapers comic strips," he said.

"Seeing your name on the back of one of the players - it's surreal.

"I have been having a look at my goal. I’m right footed but they put me hitting it with my left, I'm not sure about that, and my biceps are a bit bigger in the comic. It’s quite funny.

"It's brilliant to have that achievement for the whole squad, having beaten Leicester and being in the position to do stuff like this and to look forward to the next round as well.

"There’s been quite a few fans coming in, so that’s good to see. It’s good to see them come in and see the Roy of the Rovers stuff and you can see there is a real buzz about the place.

"We’ll travel up to Middlesbrough with a good crowd travelling with us. Hopefully we can frustrate the Middlesbrough crowd and frustrate Tony Pulis and maybe be in the Roy of the Rovers comic for the next round as well."

County chairman Gavin Foxall said the comics provide a fantastic memento of the game for the fans.

"It's fantastic," he said. "As Flynny said in his post-match interview against Leicester - it was Roy of the Rovers stuff.

"It's good what the FA have done. Kids have turned up at the shop today and have been able to take that away as a great memento for them.

"It helps put us on the map, and it puts the city on the map as well.

"If that galvanises those people that came along for that game to come week-in week-out when we’re playing League Two football and they get the bug, that can only be good for the club.

"It makes us more sustainable and that’s what we’re all about as a community club."

County will be backed by almost 1,000 supporters at the Riverside on Saturday for the Fourth Round.
