THE South Wales Argus is publishing a special Newport Half Marathon supplement on Monday, March 4.

Grab a copy to see our great pictures and stories from this year's half marathon.

The race is taking place on Sunday, March 3, and will raise vital funds for St David’s Hospice Care.

It starts at 9am, with road and lane closures effective between 6am – 8am until midday.

The half marathon did not go ahead last year after it was cancelled twice due to bad weather, but hopefully the elements will be kinder this year.

Organisers have given assurances they wish to ensure minimal disruption and that roads will re-open as soon as possible after the last runners have passed by.

The race starts in the city centre, following a scenic route passing the Transporter Bridge, Friars Walk and Newport Castle.

The route then heads out to Caerleon, using main roads and cycle paths, finishing at the University Building on the Riverfront path. Proceeds will go to St David's Hospice Care.
