MAMMA Lina’s, the popular family owned Italian restaurant in Rogerstone is set for an expansion of the business.

The family will be opening a new restaurant in Cardiff next month. Allowing the capital’s residents and visitors to get a taste of the authentic Italian cuisine that Mamma Lina’s in Rogerstone has become well-known for.

The new restaurant will be in Albany Road. Gianluca Pandolfi, who owns the restaurant with his cousin Massimo Intrigila, said:

“Since we opened our restaurant just a few years ago, we have received the most wonderful welcome from our guests who have visited our restaurant. Both Massimo and I had worked in the restaurant industry in South Wales for some time since moving over here from Italy but we hadn’t run our own and opening the doors for the first time was a step into the relative unknown. Writing on behalf of Massimo, Laura and Esperanza and our families and team, I can honestly say that we have no regrets at all and have thoroughly enjoyed the journey so far and look forward to continuing to welcome visitors all to our Rogerstone restaurant.

“We will shortly (next month) be opening a second Mamma Lina’s. The location of the new restaurant will be Albany Road in Cardiff in the premises previously trading as Zio Pin. We have invested in a substantial upgrade of the premises which will hopefully be completed in the next fortnight.

“Our Cardiff restaurant will offer a very similar menu to our current one in Rogerstone and whilst we will initially be overseeing the running of the new venue, we will be keeping the same team in Rogerstone.

“On behalf of all our families and team, we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

While the owners and their immediate families have worked in the restaurant industry in South Wales for more than 20 years, Rogerston’s Mamma Lina’s only opened five years ago and is a firm favourite in the South East Wales.

The restaurant was named as the Best Family Owned Restaurant in the Welsh/Italian Awards.
