RUNNERS in Sunday's ABP Newport Wales Marathon and 10K events will be rewarded with bespoke finishers’ medals and t-shirts.

Completing the 26.2 miles in and around Newport will be an achievement of a lifetime for most, and personal triumphs will be commemorated with tailor-made post-finish goodies.

A chunky golden medal, featuring a runner’s view of prominent race landmark the City Bridge, awaits marathon runners, along with a shamrock green t-shirt, and 100 per cent cornstarch goodie bags displaying the bridge along with white and blue ABP Newport Wales Marathon chevrons, representing waves of runners.

The polished steel 10K medal features the City Bridge and an army of runners battling it out over the shorter distance, with a Newport amber ribbon. Both medals have the race date engraved on the back and space for iTab personalisation.

10K finishers will receive a breathable black t-shirt with emerald green and white details to showcase their participation in the second leg of the Run 4 Wales 10K Series.

Race director and double Olympic marathon runner Steve Brace, (pictured modelling the medal and t-shirt), said: “Committed runners who finish the marathon and 10K courses will no doubt have a lasting memory of the flat course and carnival atmosphere in the city of Newport and rural communities of Redwick and Magor, who come out in force to create an unforgettable experience for runners and spectators alike," he said.

"Bespoke finishers’ items will ensure every competitor commemorates their achievement in style. The City Bridge plays an integral role on the marathon route and in day-to-day life in Newport.

“I can’t wait to see finishers posing with their medals and wearing their t-shirts on future training runs to help focus their minds on their next big challenge.”

Young runners taking their first steps at a mass-participation event, and their families, will also get their own bilingual medal to celebrate finishing the ABP Family Mile.
