Last summer Brighton, like the rest of the country, was in the grip of World Cup fever. England were going strong and the thought was “it’s coming home”. We take a look back on a historic night when England took on Colombia in the last 16, and boy was there drama.

The fans were out in force in the Sussex sunshine to watch the match
The reaction when England scored was pretty wild
Supporters cheered the team on all the way
But for some the tension was too much to handle
England came out on top in a historic result that got the nation dreaming
After a goalless first half it was Tottenham striker Harry Kane who got the Three Lions off the mark in the 57th minute.
It looked as if the quarter finals were calling until Everton’s Yerry Mina equalised in the third minute of injury time.
The game went to penalties and Jordan Pickford was the hero, saving from Matheus Uribe and then Carlos Bacca to seal a dramatic win.
