YOUNG Chepstow cricketer Ben Kellaway has returned from a major tournament played over six days in Essex, writes Bob Cypher.

Ben, 15, a member of Chepstow CC, was selected for the South and West of England squad to take on the best young cricketers from the rest of England in the 33rd ECB David English Bunbury Festival at Felsted School in Essex.

Four regional teams from the North, Midlands, South and West and London and The East took part in the tournament which was won by the South and West for the second year.

The tournament was played in T20 and 50-over formats with Ben and his teammates being undefeated throughout.

Ben, who is seen in action for Chepstow First XI, said the experience was one to treasure.

“It was a memorable experience playing cricket with and against the best,” he said.

“Bunbury creates new cricketing friendships from many counties which will stay with me for a long time.”
