UPDATE 3.26PM 30/3/20: The two policemen and the man driving the other car have since been released from hospital, and are all progressing well at home.

UPDATE 3.35PM: Gwent Police have confirmed that at approximately 2pm today there was a collision involving two cars, one of which was a police car, on Chepstow Road in Newport.

The police car was responding to an emergency call at the time of the collision.

The two male officers in the police car have been taken to hospital with serious, not life-threatening, injuries.

The male driver of the other car has gone to hospital with what appears to be minor injuries at this time.

The garden wall of a house was also damaged during the collision and a pedestrian was injured by some of the debris. They have suffered some injuries which aren’t believed to be serious at this time.

EMERGENCY services are dealing with a road traffic collision on Chepstow Road in Newport.

The road is closed between Carisbrooke Road and the junction of Blenheim Road.

Gwent Police has advised all passing vehicles to find an alternative route.
