The team behind the development of the International Convention Centre Wales is aiming to secure even more business events for Wales this week, when it takes its message directly to an international audience for the first time.

Held in Barcelona from November 28 to 30, 'ibtm world' is the premier event for the global meetings industry, attracting more than 15,000 meetings industry professionals from some 150 countries worldwide.

ICC Wales will share a stand with Visit Wales at the show, promoting a joint vision for the future of business events in the country and showcasing the exciting new venue and the appeal of Wales as a destination to the international market.

Ian Edwards, chief executive of ICC Wales, said: “We are delighted to be exhibiting for the first time at ibtm world this November. The appetite for bringing prestigious business events to Wales is already well established and we are looking forward to showcasing our exciting new offering to the worldwide meetings, incentives, conferences and events industry.

“Tradeshows like ibtm world allow us to make key connections, grow awareness of the venue, and rapidly build business. Wales has never before had a proposition like this to put forward to the international market and we are excited to show these important potential clients exactly what we now have to offer. Events like ibtm world remain a key priority for ICC Wales, and I’m delighted that we’ll be banging the business drum for our nation this month.”

Two large-scale conferences from the UK have already been booked at the venue – Alzheimer’s Research UK Conference in March 2020 and the venue’s inaugural event, The Hospitality and Catering Expo in July 2019.

Scheduled to open in 2019, ICC Wales is located within the grounds of Celtic Manor in Newport. The new-build 26,000sqm venue will accommodate 5,000 delegates and includes a 4,000sqm pillar-free main hall.

ICC Wales is an £83.7m joint venture between the owners of the Celtic Manor and Welsh Government and is managed by Celtic Manor’s expert leadership team.
