WHEN Mel Cannon opened the door of her Perfect Image beauty salon in Usk in 1989, little did she think that in 2019 she would be celebrating 30 years in business.

She qualified and started out as a mobile beautician working four days a week.

Then, with the encouragement of her dad, she opened up her salon at 65a Bridge Street where she worked two days in the shop while continuing mobile to support the new business.

As the beauty industry grew so did the so did the salon's client base and team. And in 1992 Mel moved next door to bigger premises where the business continued to thrive.

In 2009 Mel was offered the chance to move again to much larger premises at 6 Bridge Street, where the salon now offers a wide range of beauty treatments for female and male clients. It also caters for the younger generations with princess and prom parties.

This month Mel opened her doors to her clients old and new to celebrate 30 years in business.

She said: "I feel proud and flattered that I have been able to sustain a professional business in Usk over the last 30 years.

"It is more important than ever to shop locally and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the clients who have supported me on my journey. Thank you also has to go to the team who for six days a week continue to provide such a great service to our clients."
