Newport business woman Melanie Duggan has won an award at the Business Wales Mentoring Awards.

Melanie, who is the co-proprietor of Syner-Chi Wellbeing, which provides a wide range of holistic therapies in Newport, picked up the Mentee of the Year Award 2019 after being nominated by local Business Wales mentor Beverley Jones.

Melanie started her business journey in 2009 when she started her training as a reflexologist.

She went on to work freelance at other salons in the Newport area before last year achieving her dream of opening the holistic centre at St Woolos Road.

Melanie said: "Opening the centre has been a dream I have held for many years. I have worked hard to build up my business and my dream has indeed now become my reality.

"Winning the Business Wales Mentee of the Year award is such a personal achievement for me and the award will now have pride of place."

Beverley said: "I am really proud of Melanie. She has worked hard and always held the faith that one day she would open the doors or her own holistic centre. It is a real testament that if we follow the dream with inspired action we can indeed bring it to reality."
