Newport-based law firm RDP Law has obtained rankings in five sections of The Legal 500 2020, the internationally recognised guide to the leading law firms within the UK.

The firm, which is one of the sponsors of the South Wales Argus Business Awards 2019, has been recommended in the areas of agriculture, dispute resolution, real estate, intellectual property and IT and telecoms, all highly competitive national categories.

The results mean that 90 per cent of RDP’s client offering is based within Legal 500 recognised areas, with its agricultural / rural work being listed within the top three firms nationally.

Two of the firm’s partners have been named as 'Leading Individuals' - head of data defence Dr Kerry Beynon and head of agriculture and private client Sioned Thomas, who has achieved the accolade for the second year running.

Head of real estate James Davies secured listings for his work in real estate and agriculture, with the dispute resolution team moving up a tier, huge achievements given the highly competitive nature of the categories.

The firm has also been joined, in recent weeks, by Matthew Wells, who was recommended as one of Wales’ leading matrimonial lawyers by last year’s rankings.

RDP director James Davies said: “This is a great result for the whole team and rewards another year of hard work across the practice. It’s particularly encouraging to see the firm’s core practice areas climbing the rankings and the firm gaining recognition for its evolving practice areas such as Data and IT. This, once again, shows us 'punching above our weight' in the market in having numerous listings within a fee earner base that is considerably smaller than many of our peers in Cardiff and Bristol.”
