An HR professional from Newport and a local HR team have been recognised by CIPD Wales, the professional body for HR and people development, at its annual awards.

The Intellectual Property Office scooped the highly commended award for best in-house team, while David Parsons, from SSCL took home one of the most coveted awards of the evening for outstanding contribution in the field of people development in Wales award.

The awards, which are now in their third year, recognise outstanding individuals and teams as the best in HR, learning, and people management practice in businesses across Wales.

Thousands of people are employed in the people profession across Wales, with HR and leadership development spanning every industry.

The CIPD Wales awards recognise some of the country’s top businesses and organisations.

The Newport-based Intellectual Property Office was recognised for its delivery of value through people-focused initiatives and practices.

While David Parsons was commended by judges for his proven track record of managing significant HR operations departments – including The Home Office and Shared Service Connected Ltd - where he delivered efficient and effective programmes.

David Parsons from SSCL said “It is a real career highlight to be recognised by your peers and to know they value the work you do. I’d advise anyone starting out in a career in HR to engage with CIPD Wales to make sure they get maximum value out of the training on offer and the opportunities to connect with other in the industry.”
