THERE was good news for luxury care home Foxhunters this week, as one of its board members was honoured in a national care sector awards ceremony.

Mike Parsons was the winner in the non-executive director category of the HealthInvestor Power Fifty awards 2019. The awards are dedicated to the health and social care sector, held in London this week.

The award category “includes nominees who have shown themselves to be dynamic by being the perfect foil to the executive teams and an invaluable font of knowledge," said HealthInvestor.

Mr Parsons said he was delighted to be honoured for his role at Dormy Care, owners of Abergavenny’s Foxhunters Care Community plus three other care home across the UK.

He said: “Our residents and their families are hugely supportive of Dormy because they know the team delivers in terms of compassionate care and civilised surroundings. The team, led by Helen, is mutually supportive and highly skilled; hence the phrase "our family caring for your family".

“My role is to make sure the team have the resources and freedom to deliver that brilliance.”

Helen Davies-Parsons, CEO of Dormy Care, added: “I am absolutely thrilled that Mike has been recognised with this award. His support to Dormy Care Communities is fantastic and we value his experience and commitment to our company.”

Foxhunters was the winner of the Knight Frank Luxury Care Home Awards in October 2019.

Mr Parsons made his name in the industry by founding Barchester Healthcare in 1992, which grew to be a large estate of over 200 care homes in the UK. He has been on the board of Dormy Care since its inception in 2017.

He is also well known for his project with Sir Richard Branson, which offers five under-privileged South African school pupils the chance to attend the prestigious Stowe School each year.
