WELSH employer Admiral Group has been recognised as a 'great place to work' for the 20th consecutive year.

The insurance company employs about 1,000 people at it's Newport office, Admiral House, which is in Queensway in the city centre.

As well as being named the fourth best super large workplace (1,000+ employees) in the UK by the Great Place to Work Institute, the company which also has offices in Cardiff and Swansea, was also given a Lifetime Masters award.

The Lifetime Masters award was given to organisations who have been named in the list every year since it was launched 20 years ago. Admiral is one of only two companies to have achieved this.

The company was also named a Centre of Excellence in Wellbeing by the institute in January this year specifically for its approach to wellbeing in the workplace.

Admiral Group chief executive David Stevens said: “Our placing on the Great Place to Work Best Workplaces list is based on feedback from our staff which makes winning this award particularly rewarding. To have been recognised every year for 20 years is incredible.

“Our success in this competition, and as a business, is down to the hard work of every person who works here. That's never been truer than over the last few weeks with so many achieving so much to allow us to look after our customers during the Covid-19 crisis. I cannot thank them enough for everything they do to make it such a fantastic place to work”.

Admiral employs more than 11,000 members of staff in eight different countries, employing nearly 7,500 people in Cardiff, Swansea and Newport alone. Most of the group’s operations around the world enter the Great Place to Work competition in their respective countries.

So far in 2020, Admiral’s overseas brands have achieved the following rankings, with more results yet to be released:

Admiral Halifax (Canada) – 11th and Admiral Seguros (Spain) – 3rd (250-500 employee category).
