A pensioner will go on trial today charged with making an improvised explosive device and possessing firearms with intent to endanger life.

Harry Street, 70, denied a total of six charges during a previous hearing at Birmingham Crown Court.

Street, formerly of Hazelville Road, Hall Green, Birmingham, is alleged to have made an explosive substance between January and October last year.

He is also accused of three counts of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life on October 14 2013, a single count of possessing a prohibited firearm, and possession of 56 home-made bullets with intent to endanger life.
