CROSS Keys will aim to start as they finished out west when they entertain Neath in the Premiership tomorrow, writes Chris Kirwan.

The men from Pandy Park host the All Blacks on the back of a 41-28 loss at Carmarthen Quins, making a shocking start before rallying to earn a consolation bonus point.

Keys are currently being led by assistant Phil Carleton while boss Morgan Stoddart takes part in the San Francisco to Los Angeles bike ride for Velindre Cancer Centre.

And the demand from the management is to pick up where they left off as they attempt to repeat their five-point haul from the opening day clash with Bridgend.

"The first 20 minutes in Carmarthen was horrendous," said team manager Mark Prangell. "They didn't really create anything, they just capitalised on our mistakes.

"At 21-0 down I just wanted the day to end but things got better and the boys showed their character.

"I have been up there many times when we have come away with nothing so it was good to get a point and at the start of the season we would have taken six from our first two games."

Next up is a Neath side who have lost to RGC 1404 and Bridgend but are a far tougher team than they were last season, when they propped up the table.

Ex-Keys Darren Hughes, Scott Andrews, Ieuan Jones and Luke Garrett all headed for the Gnoll this summer as part of a big recruitment drive.

"You've got to win your home games in the Premiership – teams don't like coming to Pandy Park and we have to make the most of that," said Prangell.

"Neath have a strong pack and a big scrum, so we have got to manage that and if we get enough ball we have shown with eight tries in two games that we can create things.

"But we also have to be better in defence because we are getting punished when we switch off."
