DRAGONS captain Cory Hill will be rested for Saturday's Guinness PRO14 clash at Glasgow to make sure he is in peak condition for Cardiff Blues – while Wales centre Tyler Morgan could make a rapid return from injury in the Rodney Parade derby.

Wales lock Hill has started all four games this season despite playing all three of Wales' summer Tests against South Africa and Argentina when he was co-captain for Warren Gatland's side.

The 26-year-old will sit out this weekend's trip to Scotstoun Stadium with Samoa lock Brandon Nansen poised to partner Rynard Landman in the second row as Bernard Jackman tinkers with his XV after a 16-5 win against Zebre.

"We are going to make some changes and give some of the bench a start but at least there is consistency of the group," said the head coach.

"One or two will come in from outside but it will be the majority of the same 23 [from Zebre] going to Glasgow.

"We are going rest a few boys who have niggles and are banged up. We are conscious that most teams get a big spike of injuries in the first six rounds.

"We were a little bit unlucky with Hallam Amos and Tyler Morgan, but we want to be careful in how we manage the boys who played rugby in June.

"We will look after Cory this weekend and won't take any risks with anyone who has had a knock."

The Dragons have one eye on the Blues clash and ending a league derby losing streak that goes back to Boxing Day, 2014.

That bid could be boosted by the return of Morgan, who had been expected to be out until at least mid-October after suffering a hamstring strain in training ahead of the round three trip to Leinster.

"Tyler could potentially be back next week," said Jackman. "That would be huge, he has progressed really well but we will know more on Monday. He has done everything right up to now."

The Dragons are down to their last two specialist centres for Glasgow with Jarryd Sage set to partner Adam Warren after Jack Dixon was forced off at half-time against Zebre.

The 23-year-old, who captained the Dragons in pre-season and has started at 12 in the opening four rounds, suffered a 'stinger' to his right arm in the opening stages and will sit out this weekend to ensure he is ready for the derby.

"Jack has been great," said Jackman. "He is still a young man but has taken on a lot of responsibility defensively – he is in our leadership group and has been playing very well.

"We were very worried because the injury looked bad. We were very relieved."

The Dragons, who are on a 34-game losing streak on the road in the PRO14, are set to face a Glasgow backlash at Scotstoun after the Warriors suffered a shock loss to the Southern Kings last Saturday.
