DRAGONS winger Joe Goodchild has been called into the Wales side for the second leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series in Cape Town.

The 20-year-old from Garndiffaith was a travelling reserve in the series opener in Dubai and was brought in when Scarlets speedster Ryan Conbeer suffered an injury on day one.

Goodchild joined regional teammates Will Talbot-Davies and Taine Basham out in the middle and his spot as back-up for this weekend has gone to another Dragon, winger George Gasson.

Wales endured a tough weekend in Dubai with losses to New Zealand, the USA and Spain on day one before they rallied from another loss, to France, for wins against Zimbabwe and Japan on day two when finishing 13th.

Their task for the inexperienced group is just as formidable in South Africa with Pool D clashes with Australia, Scotland and Canada.
