WALES Sevens international Owen Jenkins is training with the Dragons and is set to feature in the Celtic Cup campaign.
The 26-year-old winger, son of 58-times capped hooker Garin, has linked up with the Rodney Parade region at their Ystrad Mynach base.
He has been joined by fellow sevens specialist Ben Roach, who has returned to the Dragons after featuring nine times for the region in the back row in 2017/18.
The duo are contracted by the Welsh Rugby Union and are set for another campaign in the World Rugby Sevens Series.
They both earned selection for Wales at last year's Commonwealth Games and World Cup and know that a strong season would put them in the mix for the Team GB squad at next year's Olympics in Tokyo.
However, if they impress in 15-a-side then they could feature for the Dragons, or at least put themselves in the shop window for after their bid to earn selection for Japan.
Dragons general rugby manager James Chapron said: "Owen and Ben have both joined up with us and are part of the squad that is preparing for the Celtic Cup.
"They bring valuable experience, gained from the sevens circuit with Wales, and will increase competition and our options ahead of the cup competition."
Jenkins was a regular on the World Rugby Sevens Series last season and was Wales' leading try scorer after crossing 16 times in 48 matches.
The speedster from Ynysybwl, who made eight appearances for Cardiff Blues, is in the mix for the Celtic Cup opener against Connacht in Galway on Friday, August 23.
Roach is also a seasoned campaigner in the shortened format but was brought in by Bernard Jackman when the Dragons suffered an injury crisis two seasons ago.
The 25-year-old from Cardiff, who also came through the Blues academy, will also be in contention for the development competition, although the back row is an area of strength.
Former England number eight Luke Narraway has been appointed as head coach of the Dragons XV for the Celtic Cup.
All of the fixture dates are set to be confirmed next week with the Dragons playing both Munster A, when they will unveil their new kits for 2018/19, and the Scarlets at Rodney Parade.
They also host Ulster and the Ospreys with those games likely to be played at grounds in the region, and not the Dragons' training base in Ystrad Mynach.
