DRAGONS tighthead prop Lloyd Fairbrother has helped Wales with preparations for their Six Nations finale against Scotland, writes Chris Kirwan.

The 28-year-old Cornishman, who joined the Rodney Parade region in 2014 and is Welsh-qualified through his mother from Blaenavon, has trained with Wayne Pivac's squad at their Vale Resort headquarters.

With the Dragons on a break from the Guinness PRO14, Fairbrother provided an extra body in the absence of injured tighthead Dillon Lewis.

South Wales Argus:

The Cardiff Blues front rower limped off at half-time in the defeat to England at Twickenham and will miss the Principality Stadium clash with the Scots.

Sale tighthead WillGriff John will make his international debut as a starter while Dragons prop Leon Brown will make his fifth successive appearance off the bench.

The 23-year-old from Newport suffered a stinger at Twickenham in the build-up to Manu Tuilagi's match-winning try but, with Wales faced with having to go down to 14 men because of uncontested scrums, dug deep for the final quarter.

Brown has made great strides this season at the scrum after missing out on the World Cup and earned boss Wayne Pivac's praise after the loss in London.

"We've got some young props that we are putting a lot of faith in," said head coach Pivac. "Leon coming on had to dig deep and I thought that he did really, really well.

"I think that both those guys have got big futures in the game and we are going to keep working hard on the scrum and making sure that we are improving."

Five Dragons were named in Pivac's squad at the start of the tournament – Brown, hooker Elliot Dee, lock Cory Hill and back row forwards Aaron Wainwright and Ross Moriarty.

Flanker Taine Basham and fly-half Sam Davies were called up because of injuries and wing Ashton Hewitt, like Fairbrother, has helped out in training.
