TITLE-WINNER Ethan Doyle is returning to Ebbw Vale as the Steelmen bolster their pack for next season.

Number eight Doyle, who helped Ebbw lift the crown four years ago, will be joined at Eugene Cross Park by Wales sevens international Alex Grey, who is a flanker in the 15-a-side game, and back row forward Scott Parsons.

The Steelmen have moved to fill the void left by the departure of talisman Ashely Sweet in the second row by bringing in Kyle Evans while Scott Evans adds to the competition at tighthead prop.

Doyle was a hit during his first spell with Ebbw, helping them win the title, before the back rower from Newport left for Old Redcliffians because of work commitments in Bristol.

"I'm excited to come back to Ebbw Vale and play in front of the Ebbw Addicts again," said the 29-year-old. "I'm entering a strong Steelmen squad so hopefully this season will be as successful as my first, when I was a Premiership winner!"

Flanker Grey, who can also cover at lock, featured for Wales in the Vancouver and Los Angeles legs of the World Rugby Sevens Series.

The 23-year-old will head to Eugene Cross Park from Bury St Edmunds where he had been playing for former Ebbw coach Nick Wakley.

"I'm very excited and grateful for the opportunity to be signing for Ebbw Vale RFC," said Grey. "I look forward to representing such a great club in the Premiership and will relish the challenge that it brings."

Parsons follows Doyle and lock Corey Talbot, who signed last December, in joining from Old Redcliffians.

"I'm looking forward to a new challenge within a more professional environment," said the 22-year-old. "I'm hoping to develop all aspects of my rugby in the upcoming season and becoming a key member of the squad."

Kyle Evans arrives from Ystrad Rhondda, who he helped win promotion to the Championship in 2019.

"After three successful seasons with Ysrad Rhondda, l'm delighted to be signing for an established Premiership club like Ebbw Vale," he said.

"I'm very excited at the challenge ahead and can't wait to get to start pre-season training with the club."

Scott Evans was with Pontypool last season and previously played for head coach Greg Woods at Cross Keys.

The 26-year-old will battle stalwart Rob Sevenoaks, Dave Whiting and Ellis Evans for the starting spot on the right of the front row.

"Playing back in the Premiership has always been an ambition of mine and I am looking forward to a big pre-season to show what I can do and push for the number three jersey," said Evans, who previously played for Oakdale.

"I spoke to a few of the Ebbw lads and they said it is a good club on and off the field and I am excited to get started and progress at the club."
