NEWPORT County AFC manager Michael Flynn was brought to boiling point by a "disgusting" performance from referee Trevor Kettle in the 3-3 draw with Macclesfield Town at Rodney Parade.

The referee awarded the visitors two controversial penalties and failed to send off Fiacre Kelleher when the Macclesfield defender tugged back Jamille Matt for a County spot-kick.

The Silkmen raced into a 2-0 lead after 11 minutes as Kelleher headed home and David Fitzpatrick scored from the spot after Dan Butler was adjudged to have pulled back Tyrone Marsh.

Butler pulled one back for the Exiles before the break and Mickey Demetriou levelled with a penalty on 59 minutes.

Fitzpatrick restored the Silkmen's lead on 82 minutes when a high ball appeared to strike Demetriou's hand in the box but Matt rescued a point as he headed home in the sixth minute of stoppage-time.

"It was definitely two points lost and it was one of the worst refereeing performances I've ever seen in my life," said Flynn afterwards.

"It was never a penalty - either of them - it's hit Mickey's [Demetriou] hand but he's being pulled and funnily enough the player who won the penalty should have been sent off earlier.

"It was an absolute disgusting performance and it needs looking at. I knew today when he [Kettle] was appointed that we were going to be in trouble. And that's worrying."
