NEW dad Matty Dolan is aiming for another perfect delivery against Carlisle United today to celebrate the birth of his baby daughter and get Newport County AFC back to winning ways.

The midfielder rushed from Rodney Parade after last week’s 1-1 draw with Morecambe to be with his partner Chloe in hospital in Bristol.

And he was still dressed in his County training gear when baby Isabella arrived the next day.

“My partner delivered our little baby girl into the world on Sunday,” said the 25-year-old.

“It’s the best moment of my life and I’m really proud of her.

“It’s been an amazing couple of days – a bit of a whirlwind.

“I dropped her off at the hospital in Bristol on the Saturday morning and went and played the game and she was born at 3.06 on Sunday. I was wearing a County shirt when I held her in my arms.

“It was a special moment and one I’ll never forget for the rest of my life,” he added.

“She’ll be mixing with all the Newport babies now – Buts [Dan Butler], Mickey [Demetriou] and me have all got babies the same age.”

And Dolan is targeting a goal today to rattle Carlisle and give Blues boss John Sheridan more sleepless nights.

“I’ve got to go out there and put on some performances for my baby girl now,” he added.

“I want to add plenty of goals to my game and there’s no better motivation than doing it for them two.”

County remain fourth in the League Two table, despite winning just one of their six games in October.

Michael Flynn’s men beat Stevenage but lost at Crawley Town and drew with Macclesfield Town, Forest Green Rovers, Bury and Morecambe last month.

“We thought it was two points dropped last weekend but we’re looking to go to Carlisle and get the three points on the road, which we’ve been very good at this year,” said Dolan.

“Carlisle are a well organised side and it’s always a tough place to go. It will be a tough game.

“We’ll have to work hard and battle hard. The squad is quite thin at the minute but we’ll fight for each other and we go to Carlisle in good spirits.

"Hopefully we can come back with a win."

Carlisle have lost their last five home games without scoring to slip to 16th in the table.

“We were disappointed not to take the three points and move up to second last weekend but that just shows how far we’ve come," added Dolan.

"It’s a long old season so you will get tested at times but we stick together in the dressing room and deal with everything.

"I don’t think we’ve surprised ourselves. We know what kind of quality we’ve got and we want to be up there.

"We don’t want to tail off. We want to keep our standards high and keep progressing.

"We’ll go week by week and day by day and see where that takes us."
