THE Newport County AFC Subscription Draw donated more than £1,000 to cover the cost of the Supporters Club bus to Carlisle United on Saturday.

The Subscription Draw is a long-running fundraising project headed up by the club’s honorary president David Hando.

It offers County supporters an opportunity to take-part in a lottery-style draw at every home match.

Over many years, the draw has raised a huge amount of money for the club, its supporters and the wider community.

And, as a thank-you to the 57 loyal supporters who booked their place on the 12-hour round-trip to Carlisle on the Supporters' Club coach, Hando and the Subscription Draw covered the cost of the bus travel.

Hando said: "The Supporters' Club does a marvellous job in providing coaches to all the County's away games, wherever they are.

"The team appreciate the constant support of our loyal fans and the club chairman agreed their loyalty should be rewarded on the longest trip of the season."

A total of 136 Exiles fans made the 284-mile journey to Brunton Park to see their side lose 3-2 after conceding a stoppage-time winner.
