MANAGER Michael Flynn is confident that Newport County AFC fans will create a “great atmosphere” for the FA Cup second-round tie at Wrexham on December 1.

The match has been selected for live coverage by BT Sport, meaning both sides will earn a £75,000 broadcast fee.

But fans have raised concerns over the 8pm kick-off on a Saturday when the last train to Newport leaves Wrexham at 8.41pm that night.

Flynn sympathises with supporters but he’s certain that they will find a way to get to the Racecourse Ground.

“The amount of money we get from the TV coverage is big for the club,” said the Exiles boss.

“It’s a lot of money for both clubs and it wouldn’t have mattered if it was 5pm on a Saturday – we still would have been getting back late.

“The only thing is it’s going to be a little bit tougher for the Newport fans to get up because I think the last train goes before the end of the game.

“But maybe that’s a clever thing from the police and Wrexham because they can keep everyone together with the coach journeys.

"I think that’s probably easier for them to handle everything.

“Don’t ever underestimate the Newport fans – they’ll find a way of getting there,” he added.

“They’ll be there. A few of them will have a sore head and they’ll probably worry about getting home the next morning.

“They’ll still come and they’ll still show a big support and it will be a great atmosphere.”

The match is all-ticket, meaning supporters will not be able to pay on the gate on December 1.

County have received an initial allocation of 780 unreserved seats in the Mold/University End of the Bkoncepts Stand.

Tickets are on sale to season ticket holders, Trust members and club volunteers today from the Kingsway club shop in Newport city centre.

Fans will not be able to purchase tickets online today, but can purchase over the phone by calling the ticket office on 01633 415374.

Remaining tickets go on general sale online from 5pm tomorrow and will be available to purchase in the Kingsway club shop from 9.30am on Wednesday.

Adult tickets are priced at £15, while over-65s and under-21s will pay £10 and over-80s and under-18s just £3.
