THE League Two match between Newport County AFC and Cheltenham Town has been moved to avoid a clash with Wales' Six Nations finale.
The game was due to be played on Saturday, March 16 (kick-off 3pm), at the same time as Wales' potential Grand Slam decider at home to Ireland in Cardiff (kick-off 2.45pm).
But the Exiles will now take on the Robins on Friday, March 15 (kick-off 7.45pm), at Rodney Parade.
A club statement says the change is a result of "requests from police and safety authorities," adding that "it would have placed additional pressure on stewarding, policing and travel and therefore the decision has been made by both Newport, Cheltenham and the EFL to re-arrange the date and time of the match.
"Both clubs appreciate the short notice for moving the kick-off time for this fixture, and understand that some supporters may be inconvenienced by this late decision.
"However, we hope that this will enable more supporters to enjoy the climax to the Six Nations championship as well as following their teams in this exciting League Two clash safely and with minimal travel disruption."
