NEWPORT County AFC manager Michael Flynn felt his side claimed a deserved three points against Cheltenham Town after producing a good response to a "disgusting" first-half performance.
Padraig Amond forced a Chris Hussey own goal nine minutes after the interval and the visitors had Will Boyle sent off 15 minutes from the end.
"I need a rest after watching that awful first-half," said Flynn, whose side climb to 11th in the League Two table ahead of tomorrow's games.
"I had to change things at half-time, if I was on the bench I would have put myself on, it was desperate measures.
"I’m going to be honest, that was one of the worst first-halves of football I have ever seen, it was disgusting.
"I thought we were terrible, we were sloppy in possession nobody wanted the ball, we were getting beaten in the air and kicking the ball out of play with no thought process.
"It was awful and I didn’t want to be associated with that.
"I told them in no uncertain terms at half-time, that we’re not having that and we got a good response."
David Pipe and Josh Sheehan came on at half-time and the Exiles were much-improves after the break.
"Pipe came on and played well, Sheehan got on the ball but for me Jamille Matt was excellent," said the manager.
"He ran himself into the ground, the second-half was really pleasing.
"The own goal was forced by some good play from Padraig Amond and pressure from [Ade] Azeez.
"We deserved to win, we should have scored a second and third as well."
