NEW signing Danny McNamara says Newport County AFC believe they can beat anyone at a raucous Rodney Parade.

County beat promotion favourites Plymouth Argyle at home last Saturday and they host new League Two leaders Crewe Alexandra this afternoon, before welcoming Premier League West Ham United to town on Tuesday night.

And McNamara, who is on loan from Championship club Millwall, is relishing two big home games in four days.

“It’s been class playing at Rodney Parade,” said the 20-year-old right-back.

“It’s quite a tight ground so it helps us and the fans have been very loud.

“I heard them chanting my name the other day, which is always a good thing.

“Crewe will be a tough game. The table doesn’t lie and it shows how good they are.

“It’ll be another test, but if we keep playing like we are then we can beat anyone at home.”

South Wales Argus:

McNamara has settled in quickly and helped the Exiles to keep three successive clean sheets in the league.

He’s also impressed the County faithful with his attacking instincts down the right flank but keeping goal out is the priority.

“I’m a defender first but when I get a chance to go forward, I’ll take my opportunity and give what I can,” he explained.

“It’s been a very good start. We’re four unbeaten now [in the league]. We’re smashing it so far.

“The clean sheets are always a good thing. We want to keep as many as possible and hopefully that will get us up the table.”

McNamara also feels that his loan spells at Dover Athletic and Havant & Waterlooville last season have helped him adapt to men's football.

“I played in the Conference last season, but this is another step up,” he said.

“It’s a lot more physical, it’s a lot quicker, and four games in I’m still adjusting to it. I’ve still got a lot to learn but I’m finding it alright so far.”
