NEWPORT County AFC manager Michael Flynn is hoping for a busy end to the transfer window.

Flynn, whose side travel to Forest Green Rovers in League Two tomorrow, would like to bring in another two players before the deadline at 5pm on Monday.

And he’s also aiming to get at least two out on loan or on permanent deals.

“Hopefully I get a couple in, and I get a couple out,” said the Exiles boss.

“There are one or two who need games and one or two who are not in my plans and there are one or two that I want to bring in to strengthen the squad.”

County’s coffers have been boosted this month by around £100,000 thanks to their Carabao Cup clash with West Ham United being shown live on Sky Sports.

And, contrary to his previous comments, Flynn says that potential incomings are no longer necessarily reliant on outgoings.

“I might get a favour here or there, but we’ll see. I’ll know a lot more today,” he added.

“I’ve been making lots of calls and trying to put things in place for a long time and, hopefully, now it comes off.”

Defenders Lazar Stojsavljevic and Marvel Ekpiteta could both be available for loan moves, while winger Keanu Marsh-Brown would be allowed to leave on a permanent basis.

South Wales Argus:

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s trip to The New Lawn, Flynn still has a number of injury worries. As well as long-term absentees Mickey Demetriou (broken leg) and Ade Azeez (Achilles), defender George Nurse, captain Joss Labadie (hamstring) and striker Jamille Matt (knee) are all doubtful.

And midfielder Scot Bennett, who came off the bench against West Ham on Tuesday, is unlikely to be ready to start against Rovers.

“Benno isn’t up to speed yet,” said Flynn at this morning’s pre-match press conference.

“But George Nurse is walking a lot more comfortably now and we’ll see how training goes.”

After the 2-0 defeat to the Hammers, the manager was asked about Labadie and Matt and said: “I think Joss will be OK for Saturday and I’m hoping Jamille will.”
