NEWPORT County AFC have confirmed the appointment of Damien Broad as the club's new academy manager.

Broad has been appointed from within the club ranks after a lengthy spell as under-18 coach, Foundation Phase lead and recently temporary academy manager following the resignation of Jorden Gibson earlier this season.

The 29-year-old's previous experience includes spells at other club academies, including Manchester City, Arsenal, Cardiff City and Bristol City.

Broad also studied for a BSC Honours degree in policing before beginning his career in football, and is a proud ambassador of Show Racism the Red Card Cymru.

Gibson resigned in September following an internal investigation into his conduct.

He had only joined the club in July after six years working in various roles at Stevenage.
